New Delhi: BJP MP Kirti Azad on Saturday alleged he was harassed by authorities at London's Heathrow Airport. He alleged the airport authorities stopped him because of his last name "Azad".
The authorities allegedly accused him of carrying a "suspicious" liquid, which Azad claimed was just water.
He was allowed to board the flight only after what he described "huge embarrassment and harassment".
"He (Azad) informed us about being detained for two hours at the Heathrow after which he was allowed to board the flight back to India. He said that the authorities were suspicious about his last name 'Azad'," his office assistant said.
