New Delhi: The extension granted to Lok Sabha Secretary General TK Vishwanathan has become controversial with Leader of Opposition and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sushma Swaraj complaining to Speaker Meira Kumra against the move.
CNN-IBN has got a copy of the letter in which Sushma Swaraj states that the decision to grant an extension to Vishwanathan was taken without her consent.
Swaraj says that only officers from the Lok Sabha cadre should be considered for the post of the Secretary General of the House.
In the letter Swaraj says that though she was called to Meira Kumar's residence to discuss the issue but a formal meeting between Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, who is the Leader of House, Kumar and her was not held.
She says that Vishwanathan is not from the Lok Sabha cadre and his appointment would adversely affect the morale of officers belong to the cadre. In what is the most stinging criticism of Vishwanathan, she says that his behaviour is also not fit for some one holding such an important post.
