Click to play videoNew Delhi: Riding high on the recent Karnataka victory, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) National Executive meeting was held in Delhi and it triggered a debate on the beleaguered secular front.
It seems that the BJP is provoking a debate on secularism in the country.
Party president Rajnath Singh in his inaugural address challenged the interpretation of the word secular in the constitution as dharma or religion neutral, insisting that it actually meant panthnirpeksha or sect-neutral.
The secular versus pseudo-secular debate immensely helped the BJP to build its base in late eighties and this time around the party has provoked yet another debate.
With country reeling under a series of terror attacks, the party feels the debate could work in its favour in the next general elections without hurting political interests of its allies.
BJP discussed the article 370 and Uniform Civil Code and praised the Deobandis for the fatwa on terror.

After a hard-earned electoral victory, it could also be the right time to sell hardcore hindutva with a few corrections to suit its current constituency.
