New Delhi: It was Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s larger-than-life figure in and outside the state that was becoming reason for envy and heartburn.
And now, Modi has been suddenly dropped from the Central Parliamentary Board of the party, meaning he will not be part of BJP's powerful team of leaders that decides on all party's nominees.
It's a new team of the new party President, who was given a full mandate for three years last month. But the reshuffle hardly had the imprint of the new President Rajnath Singh.
Meanwhile, the reception that the low-profile RSS pracharak, Sanjay Joshi, received when he was rehabilitated - his name had been cleared by the Madhya Pradesh police after the CD scandal but in a quid pro quo he had to be axed because Modi was going out. “Whatever work I am given I will do. We all hope the party prospers,” said Joshi.
He has been replaced by another RSS pracharak Ram Lal. “The committee will work in this new direction,” said Ram Lal.
The crucial changes in the party are induction of former Maharashtra deputy chief minister, Gopinath Munde as General Secretary.
Arun Jaitley remains the Secretary of the party but has been replaced by Rajiv Pratap Rudy as party spokesperson.
