BJP, Sena say alliance on but hunt options

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: The BJP and Shiv Sena maintain that their alliance in Maharashtra is on, but both parties seem to be keeping their options open.

Even as the Shiv Sena continues to deny striking any deal with the NCP, senior BJP leaders feel that Sena may have entered into a secret pre-poll agreement with Sharad Pawar's NCP.

According to reports NCP Chief Sharad Pawar is trying to get seats from the Congress where BJP and not the Sena will be fielding its candidates.

The BJP is also likely to hit back at the Sena, by working out a tacit understanding with Raj Thackeray's MNS.

However, both BJP and Shiv Sena continue to agree with the existing seat-sharing formula. The BJP will contest 26 seats, while Shiv Sena will field its candidates from 22 seats.
