BJP-SP war of words continue, Cong mum

New Delhi: The BJP is not letting the cash for vote scam disappear from public memory. Two weeks after the trust vote, the party gave the parliamentary panel evidence accusing Samajwadi Party's General Secretary Amar Singh of colliding with Ahmed Patel — who is the political secretary to Sonia Gandhi — of buying their MPs.

Amar Singh and Jaitley have so far enjoyed a cordial personal relationship, but after last month's trust vote the equation has changed.

Holding the SP guilty of buying MP's during the trust vote, Jaitley alleged, “Sanjeev Saxena called Amar Singh from his mobile phone and got the three MPs to talk to him.”

However, the Congress is in no mood to listen to Jaitly's legal arguments. While blaming the BJP, the Congress chose to keep a safe distance.

Meanwhile, creating more trouble for the BJP is its former leader Uma Bharti. A counter sting done by her party tried to implicate MP Chief Minister in the cash for vote scam. However, the sting turned out to be a fake one.

Speaking in defence of his party, Congress Spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said, "Till now there isn't any evidence against the Congress, and both SP and Congress are not involved in the cash for vote scam."

The focus now is on the committee set up by Lok Sabha Speaker Sonath Chatterjee to sift through all the allegations and counter allegations to find out who bribed whom.
