New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday hit out at the UPA government for Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde's remark that the BJP and the RSS were promoting Hindu terrorism through their training camps. The BJP demanded that UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demand an unconditional apology and also the resignation of Shinde.

"We condemn strongly the malicious comment by a light weight home minister who doesn't know what he is speaking about. We demand Manmohan, Sonia to tender an unconditional apology and Shinde should be sacked," BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

Slamming the Home Minister for using the term 'saffron terror', Prasad said, "Saffron is the beacon of India's spritual heritage. It's on the national flag. How did the Home Minister join this pure word with terrorism?" "We never say 'Muslim terror' because we know terror has no religion," he added.

The BJP has also announced a nationwide protest against Shinde's remark on January 24. Demanding the Congress to come clean on Shinde's remark, Prasad said, "We want to know, does the Congress approve of Shinde's comments?"

While the BJP slammed Shinde, Parliament attack convict Hafiz Saeed praised him for his remark. Praising the minister, Saeed said, "Shinde has spoken truth finally. We consider this a help from Allah for Pakistan which is always (accused) by India for terrorism." Terrorist group, the Jamaat-ud-Dawa too tweeted, saying, "We appreciate Media, rightly judging the enormity of Indian ministers confessional statement".

At the last day of the Congress's Chintan Shivir in Jaipur, Shinde took to stage and while talking about the security situation in the country, flayed the BJP and the RSS for what "promoting Hindu terrorism".

He alleged that after investigations, it had been found that the RSS was behind the Samjhauta, the Mecca Masjid and the Malegaon blasts. He stated that the RSS first planted bombs and then blamed the minorities.
