New Delhi: In an interview to IBN7, BJP President Nitin Gadkari stressed that only Lok Sabha contestants will be considered as PM candidate, and he has ruled himself out of that race.
Prabhu Chawla: Ever since you've become chairperson, people say you avoid Delhi and are scared of Delhi. Is this true?
Nitin Gadkari: This is untrue. I'm not scared of anything - Delhi, the media or ministers.
Prabhu Chawla: Then why do you run away from Delhi?
Nitin Gadkari: Where do I run away?
Prabhu Chawla: You don't stay in Delhi much...
Nitin Gadkari: I was just travelling across the country. Sometimes I'm at home. My headquarters are in Nagpur. But now I have adjusted to Delhi.
Prabhu Chawla: Has Delhi grown on you?
Nitin Gadkari: I'll throw all the Delhiites out. I won't leave Delhi
Prabhu Chawla: You once said you won't be a Rajya Sabha member. Now you say you want to run for the Lok Sabha...
Nitin Gadkari: It's often said that I am not elected by the people. This hurts me, so I decided to get elected from Nagpur. But otherwise also I am with the people and have helped many ministers during elections.
Prabhu Chawla: some are of the contention that this is a step towards becoming a PM candidate...that there are so many contenders, let's throw in one more.
Nitin Gadkari: I am not in the race to become a prime minister.
Prabhu Chawla: What if the party makes you its prime ministerial candidate?
Nitin Gadkari: The party won't make me its prime ministerial candidate and I don't want to be.
