NEYYATINKARA: BJP activists blocked the National Highway here on Saturday afternoon for nearly half an hour alleging that a vehicle used for their campaign was taken into custody illegally by the squad of Election Commission.
 Later, the issue was solved after higher officials intervened and an extra loudspeaker was removed from the vehicle.
Pon Radhakrishan,  BJP’s Tamil Nadu state leader from the neighboring Kanyakumari district, campaigned for Rajagopal in the Thirupuram panchayat on Saturday.  Senior CPM leaders including politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishhan and LDF convenor Vaikom Viswan visited many parts of the constituency on Saturday campaigning for LDF candidate F Lawrence. Former Minister Thomas Isaac met voters at their homes in the coastal belt of the constituency to seek votes for Lawrence.  Minister P K Jayalakshmi and Sashi Tharoor MP campaigned for UDF candidate R Selvaraj on Saturday.
