BJP takes on Congress on Malegaon blast probe

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is accusing the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) of going after the wrong people in the Malegaon bomb blast case.

With Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and Delhi round the corner, top BJP leaders are using the arrest of Sadhvi Pragya SIngh Thakur as their core campaign issue.

BJP's prime ministerial candidate and Leader of Opposition Lal Krishna Advani and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi are arguably the two biggest crowd pullers in the BJP and they are on a mission in the ongoing Assembly elections.

It's not just terror which is on top of their agenda and they are going all out to make the alleged treatment rendered to the Sadhvi in the wake of Malegaon blast investigations a major campaigning issue.

"We never spoke about the religion of any terrorist. We never called any one a Sikh terrorist. Then why suddenly the Government is calling this an act of Hindu terrorism," Advani thundered while addressing an election rally in Delhi on Tuesday.

Modi also raked the issue of Sonia Gandhi's nationality and had a poser for the Congress President and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit

"How can a Sadhvi be tortured like this? Shielaji and Soniaji will have to answer for this. The mothers and sisters of India will demand an answer to the treatment dished out to the Sadhvi," Modi said.

The BJP will now be keeping a close eye on how the entire episode plays out. After all if they succeed then it is bound to be used in a big way during their General Election campaigning as well.
