New Delhi: Conceding defeat in the Delhi Assembly polls, BJP chief ministerial candidate Vijay Kumar Malhotra on Monday said the party's performance in the elections had not been up to expectations.
"It is our defeat. The results in the Assembly polls have not been on expected lines. We will certainly review why our candidates could not win in some seats that were considered our stronghold," Malhotra told reporters in the capital.
Though results to all seats in the Assembly was yet to be declared, Malhotra said, the BJP was expected to increase its tally, while Congress would turn up with lesser number of seats than last time.
"We will certainly take stock of why the results have not been on expected lines. We will see what went wrong. In defeat, everything that we did will seem like a mistake and in victory, all will seem like the right step," he said to a query if choice of candidates had led to the party's defeat.
