Click to play videoAfter Saat Hindustani and Agneepath, actor Amitabh Bachchan has now won the National Award for his performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Black. In an exclusive chat with CNN-IBN's Rohit Khilnani, Amitabh Bachchan said any kind of recognition was exciting for people in the creative field.
Amitabh Bachchan: I think any kind of recognition is exciting, more specially for people who are in the creative field. We create because we want to project our creations to the masses, to the people. Their appreciation means that whatever we are creating is being liked.
And then when it is recognised by an institution which has the dignity and the strength and the power of the state, then it's an even more pleasureable moment.
Rohit Khilnani: Your performance in Black was critically acclaimed and everyone really liked it. I am sure somewhere you realised that this would be recognised more than any of your other performances.
Amitabh Bachchan: I don't look at it that way. I believe that giving it 100 per cent and delivering what the director has asked us to do is of more importance. And yes, if recognition was to come our way, we'd happily accept it.
Rohit Khilnani: Now when you hear that you are getting a National Award, how is the atmosphere at home? Do you all get any time to celebrate?
Amitabh Bachchan: Well I think just spending time with the family and talking about the award is happiness in itself. We have not done anything special as such. But we are all together and that is more important than anything else.
Rohit Khilnani: Well you've got a National Award now, so what is your plan for the rest of the day?
Amitabh Bachchan: As soon as you leave me, I will go and start shooting because you are taking up all my shooting time (laughs) and there are some very anxious producers and directors waiting on the sets. Right now I am shooting for Bhoothnath and then I will go home and spend the evening with the family.
