New Delhi: Twenty four hours after the BJP was comprehensively defeated, the blame game has started in the party. The RSS says that it will not stop L K Advani if he chooses to step down.

Is it the end for the BJPs Lauh Purush (Iron man) as party members draw daggers over his very position in the party?

The blame game is on over who was it or what was it that caused the debacle for BJP in the just concluded General Elections.

Who will it be amongst Sushma Swaraj, Jaswant Singh, Murli Manohar Joshi or Rajnath Singh to take asdvani’s place in the party?

Murli Manohar Joshi said, “In Uttar Pradesh, I guess the Muslim voters tilted towards the Congress and that is why they (the Congress) saw increase in voteshare as well as number of seats won. The effect is for all of Uttar Pradesh to see. We will also look into how big a factor was Varun Gandhi, to the vote share.”

BJP also realise that the ticket distribution (mainly managed by Arun Jaitley) should have been a little more balanced to include Muslim candidates.

Now, even the RSS, which is an ally has begun to hint that it will notr interfere if Advani steps down.

“Whether to stay or quit, is really the prerogative of the BJP and Advani himself.”

But the struggle to wrench power began soon after the debacle. “For me to imagine the act of stepping into his (Advani’s) shoes itself is a very painful idea.

BJP leader Kalraj Mishra said, “I have prayed that his leadership stays intact.”

Even allies like the JD(U) which did very well in Bihar, are unhappy with the BJP's campaign strategies.

”When one key candidate had been decided, to run another’s name in the place creates doubts,” said JDU president Sharad Yadav.

The last thing that the party wants now are destructive party squabbles.
