Kolkata: Three persons died when a crude bomb they were allegedly making exploded in Khejhuri village near Nandigram in West Bengal on Sunday.
The Bhumi Uchhed Pratirodh Committee (BUPC), a farmers’ organization, has called for a bandh in Nandigram today to protest against land acquisition for industries.
The BUPC alleged the dead persons were CPI-M workers but the party rejected the accusation and claimed BUPC members threw bombs at its office in Sherkhan Chowk.
Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, who supports farmers in Nandigram, is visiting Nandigram today. Banerjee has called for a band in West Bengal on October 31 to protest against alleged attacks on farmers in Nandigram.
A clash between CPM and BUPC workers killed one person on Saturday. Earlier this week three people were injured in a similar clash.
Banerjee alleges 50 people have been killed in Nandigram since January but the state government has ignored to ease tension.
