Bangalore: The Karnataka Fire Department on Saturday admitted lapse in the Bangalore mock fire drill case where a woman lost her life on Friday.
The DG of the Fire Department has admitted that there were serious lapses.
"What happened was unfortunate. We do admit there could have been procedural lapses and we are investigating into it but what we will do now is that we shall look into our safety operating procedures and make our mock fire drills more secure, " said AR Infant.
The mock drill turned deadly on Friday after a 25-year-old woman died while climbing down a rope.
The cell phone video was meant to show off how courageous Nalina is, but within minutes of taking the leap, Nalina was dead.
It was a mock fire drill to teach safety techniques to the 1,200 employees of Bombay Rayon, a garment factory in Bangalore and Nalina volunteered to jump off the third floor only to find the rope snapping. Shocked colleagues and fire police officials watched as she fell to her death.
