Bangalore: In a shocking story of alleged sexual abuse from Bangalore, a French diplomat's wife has accused him of raping their three-and-a-half-year-old daughter over the last one year. Even though a complaint has been filed against Pascal Mazurier, and he was detained for questioning on Thursday night, he has not been arrested, as he enjoys diplomatic immunity.
Ravikanthe Gowda, DCP, Bangalore Central, said, "A case of child molestation and abuse is registered. However, no detials can be given as it involves child rights... investigation is on..."
Nina Nayak, Chairperson, Child Rights Commission, said, "The mother of the French diplomat - the mother of the child had doubts that her husband was physically abusing their three-and-a-half-year-old daughter."
The complaint states the mother got the child medically examined on the suggestion of a voluntary organisation she had approached. The report suggested sexual abuse.
The police said the diplomat has not been arrested as he is third in command at the Consulate General of France and thus enjoys diplomatic immunity.
Pramila Nesargi, the victim's advocate, said, "We've requested the French Embassy to waive off the diplomatic immunuty. They have a right to waive it. A rapist should not be allowed to go free."
When contacted, Pascal's chief at the consulate refused to comment on the matter, saying the office was in no way related to issue.
