Bangalore: At 74, Padma and Jayalaxmi Srinivasan are savvy entrepreneurs. Padma, the Accounts and PR Executive chalks out the business plans while Jayalaxmi, the COO orchestrates the kitchen-work.

And if you are wondering what the kitchen work and what it is that the two women make, here it is.

"When we started, we did not even know how to spell the word pizza let alone make it,” says Jayalaxmi.

Padma and Jayalaxmi started Pizza Haven in 2003 and have been at it since then.

With their generous cheese toppings, homemade sauces, an affordable price of just Rs 40 and a variety of over 10 kinds of pizzas, their pizzas had to be a raving success.

But why did they deicide on pizzas and not Utthapams?

"We chose pizzas because one they are a big hit with the youth today and second because they are not messy like our other South Indian dishes and since we supply to various MNCs, we could not afford to dirty their premises,” says Padma.

And their years of hard work, learning to dish out an alien cuisine is finally paying off.

They've bought land to build their old age home, Vishranti and are already halfway through to realising their dreams. But it is the journey undertaken by the pizza grannies that gives this pizza a very proud tag - delicious and Made in India.
