Click to play videoBangalore: Veeru Paksha Nayak, hit by a speeding car on Monday morning, miraculously survived. The driver of the white Maruti car fled the scene and is now on Facebook. Bangalore Traffic police uploaded CCTV images of the accident on their Facebook page.
Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Bangalore City MA Saleem said, "Since not many people were there at the road at that time not many have been able to note down the number of the vehicle. Through wide publicity we hope to catch the vehicle."
The victim, Veeru Paksha Nayak is a cab driver and the only bread winner of his family. Though he survived the accident, he is still in hospital sustaining multiples fractures and has undergone surgery.
Nayak said, "I am poor and I cannot afford the treatment, I have a wife and two kids, now I am in the hospital, I can't work how will I bring food on the table?"
Conveying Veeru's plight to fellow Bangaloreans, the traffic police hopes to get crucial clues through their Facebook page. It's a platform for citizens to register their complaints and also help in investigations. the page already has 18,000 followers. Bangalore sure is living up to the title of IT city.
