Mumbai: In a setback for Congress leader Vilasrao Deshmukh, the Mumbai High court has ordered that the land given to Subhash Ghai's Mukta Arts in 2006 be taken back.
The court has also asked Ghai to pay Rs 5.3 crore annually from 2000, from the time Mukta Arts entered into a joint venture with the state government.
Deshmukh was the Maharashtra Chief Minister during the time when the land allotment was made.
The order comes on a case filed by farmers in Latur who allege that Deshmukh breached rules to allot the land.
