Mumbai: Even as polling began across Mumbai city, some political parties were found violating the election code of conduct.
Pictures of Congress leaders continue to adorn buildings in Kherwadi in Bandra East, two hours after polling began.
Across the ground, at a distance of less than 100 mts, from the posters is a polling booth - a clear violation of the election code of conduct. And a Shiv Sena desk is placed right at the demarcation line of the restricted area.
And Congress isn't the only erring party. Pictures of Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray and son Uddhav also continue to grace the roads around the election center.
When CNN-IBN decided to confront the parties concerned, the covers were immediately put on. CNN-IBN's cameras caught Shiv Sainiks in the middle of a massive cover up operation.
"We have packed up everything here. Don't make an issue of this," says one party worker.
Adds another, "I can't say anything. I am not allowed to talk to the media."
Across the road, Congress party workers were scrambling to cover Sonia Gandhi's pictures.
"BMC ordered us to cover up the pictures and so we are," says a party worker.
It appears that despite the Election Commission's best efforts, political parties will go to any length to get that extra edge on polling day.
