New Delhi: Exam blues have claimed one more life in the Capital with a teenaged girl allegedly shooting herself dead this morning.

Another teenage suicide in the Capital and it is the academic pressure that could be blamed.

On Tuesday morning, Tanvi took her father's revolver, went to her room, and shot herself in the head.

Tanvi Dhamija was a class 11 student at the DAV school in Pitampura. Tanvi's family says she had been depressed for several days, afraid that when her exam results came out on Friday, she would not be promoted.

“We do not know why she took this measure,” says Tanvi's uncle, Sandeep.

However, friends and family say that Tanvi was an average student and was under no such pressure to perform from her family. The police have registered an FIR, and are investigating the case.

Pressure from Tanvi's school and her peers could well have been a factor. Four students have committed suicide due to exam pressure in the Capital in the last four weeks.

With 10th and 12th standard board exams still in progress, the chances of more students taking the extreme step are as high as ever.
