Bodh Gaya: BJP President Rajnath Singh and leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley visited Bodh Gaya on Tuesday, two days after the terror attack on the Mahabodhi temple. Both the leaders hit out at the Central government for the security lapse and said the UPA should make a comprehensive plan to fight against any kind of terror attacks.
Jaitley said he hoped the Central government will strengthen security system in Bodh Gaya and also across the country. "The UPA government has linked the internal security with vote bank politics," he said.
Condemning the serial blasts, the BJP said the government should make a comprehensive plan to fight against any kind of terror attack. "The Congres-led UPA has failed to act to ensure that terror attacks are stopped," the BJP President said.
The BJP maintained that there should be proper co-ordination between the different security agencies and attacked the government for making IB and CBI stand against each other. "Today IB and CBI are standing aganist each other because of the Central government policy," Singh said.
Hitting out at the UPA government, the BJP said states alone can not do anything without the Central government support. "No state can fight terrorism or Maoist violence on its own, it needs Centre's support.
"There is a possibility that specific intelligence input may not have been given to the state government. But even if there was some intelligence report of a possible terror attack on Buddhist shrine, then security arrangements should have been stepped up," Singh said.
The Congress hit back at the BJP and said the BJP has no policy or standards. Congress leader V Narayanasamy said the investigation in the Mahabodhi temple terror attack is going on, so I can't talk about this. "The BJP was fine with Nitish Kumar till now. All of a sudden they have a problem with him and are blaming him. BJP has no policy or standards," he said.
