Mumbai: Veteran actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar, known for his villain roles, was allegedly assaulted by the residents of his own housing society in Versova in Mumbai on Wednesday. The incident took place after he protested against wastage of water during Holi celebrations in his housing society.
He reportedly informed a local TV channel about the celebrations and this angered some residents after which they assaulted him. The police have recorded the statements of Amrapurkar and the camera-person and filed a case against the five persons.
"They thrashed the cameraperson and stole the video. I was pushed and threatened," Amrapurkar said.
Amrapurkar, who lives in Versova in Mumbai, told the channel that 'a rain-dance' was going on at Panchavati building in his neighbourhood and asked them to shoot it as an instance of waste of water and people's insensitivity. When the channel's camera-person went to shoot it, some of the revellers took objection.
