Mumbai: Bollywood actor Kiron Kher on Sunday formally joined the BJP and will actively campaign for the party in Maharashtra and different parts of the country.
Speaking on the occasion here, Ms Kher said, ''I want to give something to the people and I feel passionate about the cause. I have drawn inspiration from BJP leaders like Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chaohan, who have done extremely well for the people and so I am here.''
BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari said though the Party did not believe much in using Bollywood personalities for the election campaigning, if people from the fraternity were interested, they were welcome.
''Our star campaigners are our leaders only,'' he added. Bollywood actors Vinod Khanna and Hema Malini and television actress Smriti Irani are already campaigning for the party.
