You may remember him from the film Mumbai Salsa, if you've watched the film that is. But then again if you're one of those business channel viewer, chances are you've guffawed at Vir Das' silly jokes on CNBC TV18.

The stand-up comedian who hosts a news capsule called News on the Loose on the business channel of Network 18 has now bagged a prominent role in Yash Raj Films' next project.

Starring Shahid Kapoor and Anushka Sharma the film will also see the debut of Parmeet Sethi as a director.

This isn't, however, Vir's first major film project. He plays a prominent role in Aamir Khan's yet-to-be-released Delhi Belly.

"I guess my potential as an actor is being noticed and appreciated now," he says, "(And) this is just the beginning."

Sure thing, 'Vir' definitely waiting to see more of you.
