London: For the next two weeks London will talk, watch and breathe cinema. The 50th Times British Film Institute film festival kickstarted on Wednesday evening at London's Leicester square.
In all 180 features and 130 short films from 48 countries will be shown at various venues across the city over the next fortnight.
It may not have the glamour of Cannes or Sundance but the London film festival draws large crowds of film buffs.
The man who selected the Indian entries for the festival this year, Cary Rajinder Sawhney said, "A wide range of Indian films will be showcased like Kabul Express, Yash Raj's new feature, director Gautam Ghosh's film starring Rekha and Nana patekar and Mira Nair’s Namesake, which did well at Toronto as well".
The eight Indian films are a mixed bag but the Britons are wishing there were some faces from the Indian film industry in the crowd as well. The only Indian filmmaker set to attend the film festival this year is Mira Nair, who is riding high on the success of Namesake at the Toronto film festival.
