New York: Aishwarya Rai has made it to Madam Tussauds in New York – the first Indian showbiz celebrity to be there – in wax!
Flashbulbs popped and Bollywood dancers swayed as the latest attraction at the New York branch of Madame Tussauds was unveiled.
Aishwarya, dressed in a costume from her film Bride and Prejudice, was brought to the Big Apple on loan from the London museum. And fans say it was a timely gift for them in the United States.
“It’s great that she's getting the recognition. Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan are already there in London, so it's nice to have Aishwarya Rai over here,” a New Jersey resident, Revathy said.
While for others, it was not just Ash but the entire Bollywood song and dance show that got them swinging.
“I saw all these people dancing, and it was really cool to watch,” a young fan, Sanchitha said.
For six weeks Ash will share the spotlight in the museum with other megastars like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie along with a solo Jennifer Aniston just a few feet away.
Wax figures of actors Will Smith and Hugh Grant are also featured in this museum among others.
