Goa: Bollywood films stole the show on day 3 of the ongoing 39th International Film Festival of India (IFFI ) as the organisers lined up Aamir Khan's Taare Zameen Par, K Asif’s Mughale -E-Azam and summer of 2007 for the audiences.
Taare Zameen Par, India's official entry to the Oscars, emerged as the movie that most people including our celebrities looked forward to see on day three of the festival.
They also wished the film good luck for the academy awards. However, Aamir Khan himself chose to give the event a miss.
Actor Gul Panag says: "I am a huge fan of Mr Aamir Khan. I believe it is one of the finest films we have come out with this year and I wish it goes the full distance."
"I think Taare Zameen Par has more of a human message than a social message and yes it is the official entry for Oscars and it has many layers. It has touched the hearts of many, quips actor Tisca Chopra.
IFFI this year is seeing a lot more Bollywood faces attending the movie mela. The authorities too want to have more Bollywood heavyweights to grace the event in the future.
Information and broadcasting minister and external affair minister Anand Sharma says, "We would like our film industry to be more associated because this is showcasing the Indian cinema of our country. We would do anything to ensure that the film industry remains connected because cinema is not only commerce.”
However, audiences seem to be divided in their opinion of whether they want to see their stars stealing limelight at IFFI.
One film enthusiast says, "I enjoy contemporary Bollywood masala movies"
Meanwhile another one says, “ No not really. I am not too keen. I would watch more of Hollywood and outshore films."
Well, if we may dare say so, we honestly don't mind a little more glam element attached to the fest.
