Mumbai: The prestigious V Shantaram Awards saw the whose who of tinsel town gracing the occasion. Though the awards felicitate cinema on a national level, Bollywood took the lead by bagging almost all the awards.
The man of the moment was director Neeraj Pandey, who apart from winning the Best Debutant Director award also bagged the Best Director as well as the first runner up award for the Best Film for A Wednesday.
While the reticent director refused to face the camera, his actor Jimmy Shergill who won the Best Supporting Actor award for the same film told us more about him.
“Neeraj is a man of few words. He doesn't talk much,” says Jimmy on director Jimmy Shergill.
Actor, director Farhan Akhtar won the Best Debutant award for Rock On beating his co-star Prachi Desai in the same category.
“I am really thankful for this one. You know for this one (the award) there is a very difficult, stiff competition with two very cute kids and with my wife from the film (Prachi Desai). I am very-very thankful and greatful,” says Farhan.
But while Farhan may have taken the Best Debutant trophy from Darsheel Safary, what waited for Taare Zameen Par was the Best Film and the Best Actor award in which Darsheel outshone names like Hrithik Roshan and Kamal Hassan to lead the race.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan received the Best Actress award for her portrayal of Jodha in Asutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar and while Ash wasn’t present to receive the award, her mother-in-law, Jaya Bachchan was present to do the honours.
“Wonderful, carry on working as you have in Joddha Akbar,” says Jaya Bachchan.
With the final winners list out it was definitely Bollywood all the way.
