Time travel, B'wood’s flavour of the season

Mumbai: Time travel is the flavour of the season in Bollywood with filmmakers making actors delve into the depths of time to solve the problems that they face.

A host of films like Aa Dekhen Zara, 8X10 Tasveer, Kal Kisne Dekha which is Vashu Bhagnani's son Jackie's launch vehicle and Akshay Kumar again in Action Replay are all probing the theme of time travel in 2009.

The first film to hit the screen is Neil Nitin Mukesh and Bipasha Basu starrer Aa Dekhen Zara in which the protagonist can see the future through a camera.

"I'm playing a photographer who inherits this camera which has an X element, which has a power and how his life changes with the power. Most of the people say when you get power most of our problems get solved but what my character doesn't realise is that by trying to solve his problems with that power he is actually creating more problems for himself," said Neil Nitin Mukesh.

Nagesh Kukunoor's 8X10 Tasveer also has a unique plot which will see Akshay solve murder mysteries by travelling back into the past by looking at an 8X10 photograph.

"It is more of a psychic ability that Akshay possess not as much as a supernatural power. It is a psychic ability to peep into people's past. When you see the film you will see that the 8 by 10 photograph plays a central part of the story," said filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor.

"I have tried this genre for the first time and I don't know how much I will succeed in it. It's a supernatural thriller not that I believe in it, I just did this film because I liked the script," said actor Akshay Kumar.

Bhoothnath director Vivek Sharma's Kal Kisne Dekha has Jackie Bhagnani playing the character of Nihal Singh who can look into the future.

And Vipul Shah's Action Replay will also see Akshay teleport through a time machine. Looks like time travel has certainly become the flavour of the season in Bollywood.
