CNN-IBN

New Delhi: Police in Glasgow, Scotland, discovered a car bomb near a mosque two hours before an India-Pakistan cricket match in the city on Tuesday.

Police found the bomb in Pollockshield and exploded it in a safe environment. Security at the Clyedesdale Cricket Ground has been increased, where the match will be played, after the incident.

The Associated Press reports the controlled explosion was carried out early Tuesday morning on a suspicious car parked outside the Forth Street Mosque in Glasgow, the city were two men attempted to set off a car bomb at the airport on Saturday.

Police said there was no indication that the mosque had any connection to the bombing attempt in Glasgow, nor to two cars packed with gasoline and gas canisters discovered in London on Friday.

UK is on high alert after a plot to detonate two car bombs left in central London was foiled on Friday and an attack on Glasgow city airport on Saturday using a fuel-laden Jeep failed.

In a related development, Australian Prime Minister John Howard has said that a 27-year-old Indian national has been detained in Brisbane for "some connections to the incidents in the UK.

Australian Broadcasting Corp. radio reported that a state medical board official had confirmed the suspect's name is Muhammad Haneef.

''The person taken into custody is an Indian national who came to Australia sponsored by the Queensland (state) health department,'' Howard said.
