Bomb scare reported from 4 areas in Delhi

New Delhi: Panic spread in the national Capital on Tuesday with bomb scares being reported from four crowded places – the New Delhi Railway Station, the Safdarjung Hospital as well as the high rise Palika Kendra and Vikas Minar.

The sprawling Safdarjung Hospital in south Delhi was immediately evacuated.

Intensive searches were also underway at the New Delhi Railway Station, Palika Kendra in Connaught Place and at Vikas Minar near ITO.

"Police got a call in the morning and all precautions were taken. The building was evacuated," NDMC spokesperson Anand Tiwari said.

Police said the call at Safdarjung Hospital was received at 0930 hours IST and the bomb disposal squad was combing the complex, a police official said.

The unidentified caller claimed that bombs had been planted at four important buildings in Delhi.

Immediately after receiving the call, Quick Response Teams were rushed to the sites. Sniffer dogs and bomb disposal teams were also rushed to the spots.
