Mumbai: Family members of Bharat Borge, the key witness in the Anil Ambani's helicopter sabotage case, have alleged that there was a foul play in his death.
The family demanded an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) saying that Borge was not a person who would commit suicide.
"No, I hadn't talked to him for the past four days. He said he was in tension, why he was I could not find out," said Bharat Borge's brother, Sambhaji Borge.
"No, it is not a suicide case. He can't commit such an act. I am sure of that. The letter has been found. It says that he was facing troubles in the past few days. I haven't seen the letter but a few relatives have. He seemed tensed (that he discovered stones and mud in Anil Ambani's helicopter). He informed his senior officers about the items in the helicopter. Maybe his co-workers would have given him some tension. The police asked me if I suspected someone. But I told them I didn't. mere khyal sai daal mein kuch kaala hai (There is something fishy). The interrogation should be done in a proper manner and the CBI should be involved if needed," added Sambhaji.
Bharat Borge, an employee of Airworks India Private Limited employee, had discovered that the gearbox of Anil Ambani’s Bell 412 helicopter had pebbles and mud inside it.
The 45-year old was found dead with severe head injuries, on the suburban railway tracks in Mumbai's Vile Parle area on Tuesday morning.
Borge's post-mortem was conducted at Cooper Hospital and the preliminary report states that the death was due shock, multiple fracture and injuries.
Vile Parle gateman Gopichand Pawar had in his statement on Tuesday evening had said that he saw Borge crossing the tracks from eastern side to the western side and was hit by a Churchagte-bound train running on the second track.
Sources in Crime Branch said they were inching closer to the culprit in the sabotage attempt case. They are looking into Borge's death as the letter was addressed to a Crime Branch officer.
Handwriting Experts have been called in to examine the authenticity of the letter. Borge's blood samples have also been sent to the Forensic Sciences Laboratory as a part of routine investigation
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Crime Branch has issued summons to two Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) officials for questioning. The two officials reportedly met Bharat Borge.
ADAG has also cancelled the contract with Airworks for the maintenance of helicopters.
