New Delhi: It seems the director Ram Gopal Varma's latest venture 'Department' has failed to grab attention at the box office. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweets,"EXCLUSIVE DATA: #Department is a disaster in UK, USA, Aus, NZ, Fiji, except UAE."
The film was not received with much enthusiasm after its release on May 18. The audiences as well as the critics had shown reluctance in giving a thumbs up to the film. Adarsh further tweets about the break ups,"#Department 'opening weekend' UK £ 14,003 [Rs 12.06 lacs] ... USA $ 58,977 [Rs 32.39 lacs] ... UAE AED 910,000 [Rs. 1.36 cr].#Department 'opening weekend' Australia A$ 17,690 [Rs 9.49 lacs] ... New Zealand NZ$ 4,892 [Rs 2.02 lacs] ... Fiji FJD 7,225 [Rs 2.14 lacs]."
Ram Gopal Varma had lashed out on critics also for unfavourable reviews of 'Department'. Later he also criticized Sanjay Dutt of interfering too much in his filmmaking process.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma's 'Department' has a remixed version of Amitabh Bachchan's all time classic 'Thodi Si Jo' song from Namak Halaal.

The song is picturised on Sanjay Dutt and Rana Daggubati in RGV's upcoming film.

'Department' will be released across all theatres on May 18.

Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, 'Department' features Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati and Sanjay Dutt.

Varma has denied reports saying his forthcoming film 'Department' is based on the real-life characters of the Mumbai police.

It was reported that the movie revolves around the Anti-Terrorist Squad created to eliminate the mafia and talks about the struggle within the police department.

Sanjay Dutt has paid a tribute to Amitabh Bachchan with a remake of the megastar's iconic track 'Thodi si jo pi li hai' as part of 'Department'.

The rights of the song, which was originally part of the 1982 film 'Namak Halal', were bought, and the number was given a contemporary twist by music director Bappa Lahiri for Varma's film.

The song is sung by Sukhwinder Singh.

It has been picturised on Sanjay and ace choreographer Ganesh Acharya.

The makers of upcoming film 'Department' have rubbished reports that the film's release has been delayed due to pending shoots.

According to reports, the climax of the film has to be reshot, while a song featuring Sanjay Dutt also remains to be filmed.

Ram Gopal Varma earlier put rumours about the item number 'Dan Dan Cheeni' in his upcoming film 'Department' to rest, insisting the song is in fact inspired by Rajinikanth's 'Aasai Nooruvagai'.

The 50-year-old director has introduced Indo-Brazilian beauty Nathalia Kaur as item girl in the song, where she is seen shaking a leg with actors Sanjay Dutt and Rana Daggubati.

Varma has confirmed speculations that 'Dan Dan' is inspired by 'Aasai Nooruvagai', the track composed by Ilayaraja and picturised on the Tamil superstar.

Choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, the music is by composer duo Dharam-Sandeep of 'Rakta Charitra' fame.

Amitabh Bachchan will be seen shaking a leg in his signature style in the forthcoming film 'Department' and actress Anjana says she was stunned to see Big B's amazing energy level.

Composed by Bappa Lahiri, the song is sung by Mika and Sudesh Bhosle.

Ram Gopal Varma\'s \'Department\' has not gone down well with the audiences as well as the critics.
