Rohtak: India's Akhil Kumar will take on Veaceslav Gojan of Moldova in the quarter-final bout of the bantamweight (54kg) category at the Workers' Gymnasium in Olympics on Monday.
A win against Gojan will ensure Akhil a bronze medal but the Indian has made it clear that he is only aiming for a gold and is not looking for any consolation price.
Akhil parents hope he'll do the country proud and win gold.
"He was always interested in boxing. We supported him and he has reached this place after 15 years of hard work," Akhil father Shri Bhagwan said.
His mother Shyama Devi added, "My son will return victorious. He will win a medal."
And when Akhil starts his quarter-final bout at about 1700 hrs IST on Monday evening a billion-strong nation will pray for yet another win.
