New Delhi: The Indian contingent that had gone to Moscow for the Boxing World Cup returned to Delhi with four bronze medals in their kitty early morning on Tuesday.
However, their welcome was anything but extravagant.
The pugilists were not received by even a single official from the federation and they had to hire taxis from the New Delhi International airport.
Not that the boxers themselves expected any better. They appeared quite happy to show off their medals even as they got their rides sorted out on a cold Delhi morning.
According to some reports, the boxers had been promised handsome endorsements and sponsors after the Beijing Olympics 2008, where they won a medal for the first time in decades.
The promises are yet to be fulfilled.
