CHENNAI: In a bizarre abduction episode, a class X student, who was allegedly kidnapped by his friends for Rs 1-crore ransom on February 26, was rescued by police on Wednesday night. Four youth, including a juvenile and two brothers from UP, were picked up in connection with the case. Four country guns and ammunition were seized from the UP youth.
Police said the victim, K Yuvaraj (17), studying in a school at Parrys, went out with his friends on Monday and did not return home. His father, Krishnan, a scrap dealer, and mother launched a frantic search for him in vain and lodged a complaint at the MKB Nagar police station. Yuvaraj’s parents received a call on Wednesday, demanding Rs1 crore for their son’s release.
Police formed six teams and began questioning the boy’s parents about his friends. On raiding the house of one of his pals, P Vijay (18), an engineering student, they found Yuvaraj there along with Anwar Khan, a youth from UP.
