College boys allegedly set friend on fire

New Delhi: An argument over a T-shirt allegedly led to two college students in Guwahati setting their friend on fire.

19-year-old college student Nitumoni Das was allegedly burnt to death by two of his friends who are now absconding.

fight over a T-shirt turned fatal for Das, a first year BA student at Dimoria College near Guwahati. He was drinking with two friends in his room when arguments allegedly led to a fight and then to his death.

Nitumoni Das' father Anil Das said, "My son told me that they fought over a T-shirt. One boy poured kerosene oil over it and went off."

Police have registered a case of murder against Prafulla Das and Marom Bora, the two boys and are looking out for them.

A neighbour who had rushed to the spot said he had poured water on Nitumoni Das who was screaming for help and asking for 108 to be called.

The Investigating Officer, P Saikia said, "Interrogation is on. Two boys came to his room."

Classes have since been cancelled in the college due to Nitumoni's death and the two students have been expelled from college.
