Kolkata: The Tata Motors have decided to pull out of Singur and company sources told CNN-IBN that a formal decision will be made in the next one week.

Singur has been a flash point for India Inc's battle to win the war against the politics of land acquisition .But it is a battle that Tata Motors seems has finally walked away from and many believe West Bengal's loss will drive a dent into brand India's investment friendly image as well.

"It is uniquely a state issue which has national implications but it has to be sorted out by themselves so that foreign investment can come in," says CEO Pepsico Inc Indra.Nooyi.

The writing has been on the wall that the Tatas wanted to drive the Nano out of the state but the pullout will definitely dent brand India's image

“I make the point of Ratan Tata not succeeding in West Bengal, how can an American company hope to succeed there. We only hope for the young people of West Bengal that the project is straighten down and allowed to proceed and environment is conducive to business is encouraged there,” says President US-India Business Council Ron Somers.

Nano will move into its temporary home in Panthnagar in Uttrakhand, where a 1000 cars will rollout eventuall. But Nano's final residence is still uncertain with sources telling CNN-IBN that Haryana, Karnataka and Maharashtra are the front runners.
