New Delhi: Jaggannath Ghose had raised his daughter to believe she was invincible, but the retired government officer's world turned upside down on March 20, when the police found his daughter's dead body two days after she went missing.

"My daughter was very bold, completely independent. She never thought anyone could harm her. She went to the US alone, she went everywhere alone," recalls Ghose.

The Delhi police now claims to have cracked the case. They have arrested three people - Ravi Kapoor, Baljit Malik and Amit Kumar - in connection with the murder.

When the police pieced together what had happened in Jigisha's case what troubles one is the brazenness with which the same men - for whom an unprecedented manhunt was on - came back to revisit the scene of their earlier crime, kidnapped Jigisha, withdrew all the money she had in her account and then brutally killed her.

According to the police, 28-year-old Jigisha, an operations manager at a Noida call centre was dropped outside her apartment block by an office cab at about 4 am on the March 18. She was on the phone for some time, when the three member gang forced Jigisha into a car and drove away.

The men first robbed her and then fearing identification, strangled her to death. Jigisha's body was found near Surajkund in Faridabad.

The police lodged an FIR on March 18 evening but on the March 19, Jigisha's parents decided to track the transactions on her debit card account. The accused had withdrawn Rs 20,000 in cash at an ATM in Mahipalpur and another Rs 5,000 in Saket and made purchases worth Rs 71,000 through her debit card.

These transactions led them to a shop in Sarojini Nagar where they found CCTV footage of the accused and intimated the police.

DCP South Delhi, HGS Dhaliwal says, "The CCTV footage helped us to nab the accused. It was very clear. A beat constable identified one of the accused men."

Now, all that Jigisha's parents wish for is death for those who killed their only daughter.

Meanwhile, the incident drives home the point that fear and crime follows Delhi's women till their very doorstep.
