Reports hint that Britney is serious about her relationship with the already married Adnan Ghalib, a Pakistani photographer.
But Britney's friends speculate that Ghalib actually has his eyes on her money.
Tabloids suggest that Ghalib had been planning all along to make a fortune by cashing in on Britney's vulnerability.
In fact, Ghalib's friends say he's been talking to them about getting some exclusive pictures of the pop star to hit big time.
Britney, on her part, has been telling "friends" how she wouldn't mind converting to Islam or even faking her own death to start a new life with Ghalib in Pakistan.
But reports say that Ghalib's Sunni Muslim family refuses to be part of this plan and have threatened to disown him if he chooses to be with Britney.
Ghalib was also spotted by the singer's side on Monday as she showed up late for the court hearing for her kids’ custody battle. Britney left without entering the court after seeing the paparazzi.
Later in the day, the court ruled that Britney would not have visitation rights restored, at least until the next hearing on February 19.
