They cited a state law that allows holding patients for treatment if they are found to be gravely disabled or a danger to themselves, or to others.
Britney's mother, Lynne Spears, with whom the troubled singer has shared a rocky relationship, has now come up with charges against Britney’s friend and manager Sam Lufti.
A restraining order aimed at him alleges that he drugged her, took over her life and finances and controlled the paparazzi who pursued her for months. The order is based on a lengthy declaration from Spears' mother.
Spears has now been ordered to have no contact with Lufti by phone, texting, or any other means.
