KOCHI: The BSNL has targeted a revenue of Rs 400 crore for this financial year from Ernakulam SSA, said P T Mathew, its Principal General Manager.
Briefing the media on the recent developments and achievements of BSNL in the telecom sector of Ernakulam SSA, Mathew stated that the operator achieved a revenue of `388 crore in the previous financial year in the Ernakulam SSA.
About 4.5 lakh mobile customers have migrated to BSNL from other operators in Kerala, out of which 85,713 are in the Ernakulam division, the highest in the district.
In addition, BSNL’s initiative to provide 12 lakh mobile connections in the Ernakulam and Idukki districts was a boon and hence, the company is aiming at 2.5 lakh new connections this financial year. The GM also said that the target will be achieved by providing customers with various facilities.
He added that the BSNL is aiming to provide 25,000 land-line connections in the current fiscal, and has introduced new unlimited plans like UL 500 and UL 600 for rural and urban customers, respectively, in the land-line sector.
Apart from this, the BSNL has introduced free roaming plan for prepaid customers with a plan charge of `152. The broadband target for the current year was 40,000 and has been increased by 20,000 to meet the additional requirements.
He also announced that the BSNL will increase the quality of customer care services by including the reduction of one per cent in the subsequent bill payment which has been made online. As part of this, the plan and tariff vouchers have also been modified.
