Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa has held the BJP to ransom. After a dramatic show of strength on Friday, Yeddyurappa made it clear to the BJP that the next Chief Minister will be his man.
Yeddyurappa supporters even went to the extent of asking BJP observers Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley to reconsider the decision to remove him from the chair.
A large number of MLAs and MPs who have been camping at defiant Yeddyurappa's house demanded that their leader should be allowed to take the final decision on change of guard. They claimed the support of 73 MLAs and 15 MPs and wanted three to four days to decide.
An angry Yeddyurappa reluctantly met Jaitley and Rajnath and refused to step down without nominating a person of his choice as the next Chief Minister.
The Yeddyurappa faction even went to the extent of asking the BJP observers to reconsider the decision to remove him from the chair. They urged the party bosses to trash the Lokayukta report on him.
Yeddyurappa who has already issued a statement saying that he would step down on Sunday played hardball demonstrating his support base before the central emissaries to extract his pound of flesh before his imminent departure.
The BJP observers were left with no other option but to cancel Friday's BJP legislative party meet to placate him. BJP's lone Southern satrap made it clear that he is the one, who still calls the shots and they can't save its first ever government in the South, if they don't accept his demands.
