Bullet-hit tiger battles for life in MP

Bhopal: Veterinary experts from Jabalpur have been called to examine an injured tiger found in the Uchehra forest area in Satna district two days ago.

Officials of the Panna Tiger Reserves brought the tiger to Van Vihar National Park here Monday in a critical condition.

The animal has sustained serious bullet injuries that paralysed its back and the experts from Jabalpur would examine it Tuesday.

"The seven-feet tiger looks extremely strong, which is a rare feature in the tigers of the state," said J S Chauhan, director of Van Vihar.

"There are two bullet wounds, one at the shoulder and the other in the leg. The second one is so deep that local physicians couldn't reach it. So we have decided to call experts from the veterinary college, Jabalpur, and let them decide on the future course of treatment."
