Nagpur: One doesn't see a sight like this often — bulls on carts being pulled by their masters. But for farmers in Vidharbha, these bulls are animals worthy of worship.
Says a farmer, Surendra Ingle, "The cattle plough our fields and draw our carts. Today we are repaying the debt to these animals."
The annual bull festival, Pola, is a special day held to acknowledge the contributions of these faithful animals and this is one festival that is not defined by caste, colour or creed.
Says another farmer, Rameshrao Bahgat, Everbody takes part in this celebration irrespective of their religion."
This year, the bulls got a taste of the fashion world too. They got a chance to flaunt their style in a unique fashion show and all for a good cause.
Says the organiser of the fashion show, Anand Bhare, The farmers here were troubled and were committing suicide, so we organised this show to lift their spirits and build hope."
For one day, the farmers of Vidarbha forgot all their worries to celebrate with their true friends and the 3,000 deaths in the suicide belt took a backseat.
