Mumbai: The grand premiere of The Namesake in Mumbai saw the who’s who of Bollywood sashay down the red carpet.
From the Big B with his family, which obviously includes his would be daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai and friend Amar Singh, to Ashutosh Gowariker and Naseeruddin Shah showed up at the gala event and the reason being just one, as actor Randeep Hood put it – Mira Nair.
For once the director's fame pulled in all the crowd. And as far as the cast goes, actor Tabu simply said that she was surprised by her performance in the film.
“I felt that I did so much, I didn't realise how hard I worked,” Tabu said.
On the other hand was actor Irfan Khan who, for the first time, was attending a premiere of his film.
“I used to wonder why my films never premiered like this. I also wanted big channels to approach me on my film premieres,” Irfan said in jest.
So, we had to ask him how it felt to be at the premiere and the answer was no different.
“I am proud to be a part of Meera Nair's creation,” Irfan obliged.
And finally we caught up with the star of the evening in her Salaam Bombay avtaar to know about her expectations from the film.
“Expectations nahi rakhne ka, dil se picture banane ka aur audience ko decide karne dene ka (One should not expect, just make a film with your heart and then let the audience decide),” Mira said.
