Mumbai: Madhuri Dixit-Nene is back in town and the actress showed up at the release of the book Marathi Taraka, a collection of profiles on 125 top Marathi actresses.

For the Dhak Dhak star, spending time with artistes from her own native state felt like a homecoming of sorts, and she shared her excitement by expressing herself in her mother tongue.

"This feels like a function at home among my own family,” says Madhuri.

Among the veterans from the Marathi film industry who graced the occasion were Sulochana, Nilu Phule, Ramesh Deo, Jayshree Gadkar and Renuka Shahane.

Much of the spotlight, however, was on local mulgi Madhuri, now happily settled in the US with her physician husband.

Flashing that legendary 100-watt smile and using her trademark humour, Madhuri urged the gathering to excuse her, as she had to be home early.

“I have two home productions. That is my kids are waiting for me and it’s their pack up time. I have to go home to put them to bed,” Madhuri explains.

The buzz is that Madhuri is gearing up for her big Bollywood comeback. Early morning workouts, dance rehearsals and script-reading sessions make up her daily routine.

The actress is expected to begin shooting for Veer Zaara cinematographer Anil Mehta's directorial debut which will be produced by Yashraj Films.

Even if only in small doses, both her fans and the Hindi film industry seems eager to taste the Ek do teen magic all over again.
