New Delhi: The all India chartered accountancy entrance exam was cancelled on Sunday after a television channel exposed the examination paper leak at a Delhi centre. The exam has been rescheduled to August 26.
The students, disappointed with the cancellation allege this is a result of a close nexus between the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the coaching institutes.
Sudesh Kumar, an invigilator at the DAV College in West Delhi has reportedly been accused for the leak. The ICAI has now constituted a high level committee to look into the matter.
Over 80,000 students who were to appear for the examination have been affected.
"I will appoint a high level committee which will include the exam committee, council members and government nominees. We'll inquire the matter fully," said Sunil Talati, President, ICAI.
"The exam held throughout India has been cancelled after a TV channel sting operation exposed the leak and the exam will now be held on August 26," the ICAI president added.
Talti said a high-powered committee has been set up to probe the paper leak and the police will go into the matter.
A private news channel, which conducted the sting operation on Saturday night, claimed in a press release that it had procured the question paper from two middlemen Satish Singh and Sudesh Kumar for Rs 60,000.
Delhi Police registered a FIR in Nazafgarh Police Station in West Delhi and raided Kumar`s residence as well as some other places in that locality. "Investigations are on and we are waiting for tapes from the television channel", said a Delhi police officer.
