New Delhi: Jitendra Singh, who became the Minister of State (MoS) with Independent Charge of Youth Affairs and Sports ministry in the Cabinet reshuffle, will also hold charge as MoS in the Defence ministry, it was officially stated on Sunday night. In a new communique issued by the Rashtrapati Bhawan, it was stated that Singh, who was allocated the portfolio of Minister of State (MoS) with Independent Charge of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, shall also be allocated the portfolio of MoS in the Ministry of Defence.
The communique also said that Jitin Prasada, who was shown as MoS in the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Human Resources Development shall be changed to be read as Minister of State in HRD only. It said the changes were effected on the advice of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The Congress-led UPA government went for a massive Cabinet reshuffle on Sunday. While Manmohan Singh inducted 22 ministers in the Cabinet, 17 were fresh faces introduced. A major share of the Cabinet reshuffle was given away to Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal to counter the Telangana forces in the former and former ally Mamata Banerjee of the Trinamool Congress in the latter.

The communique also said that Jitin Prasada, who was shown as MoS in the Ministry of Defence and HRD shall be changed to be read as MoS in HRD only.
